Convolvulus arvensis, commonly known as field bindweed, is a perennial climbing wildflower native to Europe and Asia. It is recognized by its slender, twining stems and delicate, funnel-shaped flowers, usually white or pale pink with faint stripes. The name Convolvulus comes from the Latin “to entwine,” referring to its coiling growth habit that allows it to climb and spread over other plants. Despite its beauty, field bindweed is notorious for its persistence and deep root system, which make it difficult to eradicate once established. Its flowers, however, are valuable to bees and other pollinators throughout the summer.
