Scilla bifolia, commonly known as alpine squill or two-leaf squill, is a perennial wildflower native to Europe and parts of Asia. It is distinguished by its delicate, star-shaped blue or white flowers that bloom in early spring, often appearing before most other plants. Its two narrow, basal leaves and slender flowering stems set it apart from other spring wildflowers. By blooming early, Scilla bifolia provides one of the first sources of nectar for emerging bees and other early pollinators, playing an important role in supporting woodland and meadow ecosystems at the start of the growing season.
